    Responsibilities

     

    The Senior Business Development Manager develops new, long-term growth opportunities for UL’s Energy & Power Technologies business.  Leverages experience and industry knowledge to help set UL’s Industrial Automation and Functional Safety strategy.  Routinely interfaces with Business Unit, Divisional and Business Development leadership to align new opportunities to UL goals.  Leads an experienced team of Business Development Managers.  Ultimately responsible for shepherding current portfolio of transformational projects to execution and implementation while maintaining a robust pipeline of new Industrial Automation and Functional Safety opportunities. This will be a highly visible role working on the #1 priority for the largest division in UL.

      

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    •  Develops new, transformational business opportunities for UL’s Energy & Power Technologies business – focusing in the areas of Industrial Automation and Functional Safety  
    •  Develops market assessments, value added propositions and strategies with BU/Divisional leadership, operations, and sales to generate long-term revenue growth opportunities.  
    •  Manages a team of experienced Business Development Managers
    •  Develops and coordinates executive-level presentations and de-briefings.
    •  Assists leadership in the development of global strategies, goals and plans.
    •  From time-to-time engages in projects that focus on customer account growth and expansion of services provided.
    •  Responsible for building and maintaining an opportunity pipeline that aligns with market needs and UL strategy
    •  Routinely coordinates with operational leadership to align strategic initiatives
    •  Performs other duties as directed. 

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate will possess: 

    • University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree) in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related disciplines. Advanced Degree (MBA or related) preferred plus at least seven years of experience within Industrial Automation and/or Functional Safety industry.
    • Demonstrated ability in key technical areas including: Business Development, Strategy, Management as well as Market, Data and IT Intelligence
    • Understanding of the applicable industry product lines and target markets.
    • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
