    UL is searching for a consultant to join our EHS & Sustainability (EHSS) Advisory Services Team. The consultant will be responsible for helping to grow our Health & Safety consulting practice by working across our commercial and Global Account Management teams to identify prospects and land projects, then manage the delivery of those projects to assist the organization in achieving its strategic Environmental Health & Safety goals. 

    Responsibilities

    We are looking for someone with 5-7 years of experience related to health and safety consulting to large organizations, particularly global organizations with large footprints. Our ideal candidate will have a network of contacts, an impressive portfolio of projects, strategic thought leadership in the health and safety arena, and the ability to deliver excellent projects and customer service. 

     

    We expect the candidate to be able to hit the ground running, with the ability to achieve the following results:


    Example of Deliverables in Year 1:

    • Business development (40%-50% of the time)
      • Identify/creating new service offerings
      • Collaborating with Sales and Commercial team
    • Responsible for booking 2-3 large projects, and delivering billable project work
    • Secure first sale in first 6 months or less
    • Manage project from initiation through delivery, in collaboration with other advisory resources
    • Support the development of UL EHSS Advisory Services infrastructure, tools, and deliverable templates

    Example of Deliverables in Year 2:

    • Continue business development activity
    • Grow total revenue for which candidate is responsible by 25%-50%
    • Develop and grow a practice area in a relevant EHS subject area

    Additional Expectations:

    • Maintain open and collaborative relationships with Commercial Teams
    • Engage, and at times manage, partners to drive business development and project delivery
    • Work with remote teams in different time zones and cultures
    • Moderate to medium travel required
    • Business case development, executive and C-Suite level presentations
    • Contribute to UL EHSS’s intellectual capital through research and writing

    UL EHSS is always in need of business-focused talented individuals. The position requires a minimum of 5-7 years consulting experience in Health & Safety or Environmental & Sustainably fields. This is a high visibility/growth opportunity for a candidate with strong project management and business development competencies.

    Qualifications

    • University degree in Health & Safety, Environment or Sustainability related fields, PhD preferred
    • Minimum 5-8 years of directly relevant experience in a consulting environment including leading business development activities
    • Demonstrated ability to facilitate customer meetings, negotiate and influence outcomes, and deliver excellent work
    • Strong program/project management and leadership skills to manage projects utilizing personnel from multiple disciplines
    • Position is located anywhere within the UK, preferably in Chicago, IL, Nashville or Franklin, TN, or Cambridge, UK
