    Responsibilities

     

    Responsible for the maintenance and improvement for a specific UL Environment Service Line along with any new programs as needed. Manages program operational functions and production while coordinating closely with operations, sales, and product management teams. Effectively manages the day-to-day activities of team, supporting and guiding decisions on projects. Drives a high performing team by managing the performance, development and engagement of team members.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Acts as the primary client interface for specific clients in partnership with the account manager, and responsible for the entire project execution. Communicates clearly and frequently with clients to discuss technical issues, explains UL Environment procedures and requirements, and negotiates project plans. Acts to address client concerns and to resolve client issues in order to effectively minimize the impact on the project’s turnaround time.
    • Drives a high performing team by managing the performance and development of team members. Operates effectively in the UL matrix to actively support and drive high performance culture changes, transformation efforts and people engagement. Holds team and self accountable for results, assists Operations Manager in defining goals and performance objectives and metrics to execute strategy. Develops and coaches by providing, training, career counseling, feedback, guidance to drive high performance and morale.
    • Leads and executes program development, maintenance and improvements for specific UL Environment Service Line along with any new programs as needed.
    • Conducts routine program surveillance for potential program/service gaps, needs for improvements and opportunities for efficiency improvements.
    • Responsible for development and maintenance of all program delivery documentation. Maintains and develops new project templates to ensure efficiency and consistent delivery of projects. Communicates with other Service Delivery program managers to ensure consistency across programs when possible.
    • Drives and delivers on continuous improvement, efficiency, and automation of service delivery.
    • Assists in development of new programs and leads implementations of new programs that are developed by Product Management team, including providing input on pricing based on our cost to deliver.
    • Leads training for new environmental engineers, contractors, and UL Field Services and ensures consistency of global operations teams’ technical interpretations.
    • Acts as primary point of contact for technical questions/support per UL Environment Service Line with sales, operations, marketing, and product management teams.
    • Coordinates with UL Environment Quality Team to ensure ISO 17065 compliance.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    Qualifications

    University Degree (Bachelor's degree) in Environmental Science or other technical field plus generally five to ten years of directly related experience

     

    Significant large-scale project management and direct client interface experience required.

     

    Project Management Professional (PMP) or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt strongly preferred

            

    Working experience with technical environmental concepts, such as test methods, chemical, material data, LCA’s, and EPD’s required.

     

    Knowledge or experience with any five of following required:

    • Energy Efficiency
    • Environmental Product Declarations
    • Indoor Air Quality – chemical emissions
    • Life Cycle Analysis including experience with LCA software such GaBi 4
    • Restricted or Hazardous Substances
    • Public and Ecosystem Health
    • Green buildings
    • Material reclamation and reuse
    • ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 Environmental Management Systems
    • Environmental Product Standards
    • Product Category Rule Development
    • Environmental Product Standards and Environmental Claim Procedures
    • Indoor Air Quality – chemical emissions
