    Brief Description:  


    In this highly visible role at UL, the VP Business Development – Connective Technologies is a key commercial leader for one of our largest business divisions, Consumer Technology. This includes overall responsibility and accountability for ensuring the develop of relevant new services and revenue opportunities specifically within the EMC-W and IOT space, with a specific focus on 5G.


    The VP Business Development – Connective Technologies drives significant growth by owning the IoT & EMC-W business development end-to-end, from setting the strategy, owning the plan, driving marketing and new sales as well as growing what we have already. This means being ahead of the curve in developing and maintaining our services, identifying new opportunities /markets and creating the commercial roadmap.



    The VP Business Development – Connective Technologies will leverage their knowledge of the IoT & 5G markets, as well as existing relationships and contacts within the relevant industries / verticals to identify and capatalise on new and existing revenue-generating opportunities.


    The VP Business Development – Connective Technologies is also responsible for the overall coordination and development of key business with the Consumer Technology division, which includes identifying business demand drivers, specific service offerings, setting targets for establishing service offerings, tracking, coaching, and allocating resources to achieve these objectives.


    The VP Business Development – Connective Technologies facilitates the development and execution of targeted business sectors in key industries within assigned business unit and prioritizes this development based upon size of opportunity, strategic importance and likelihood of success to grow the company’s long-term business relationships with key global and regional customers.







    Detailed Description:  


    • Ensure we develop relevant new services and revenue opportunities beyond existing services in the EMC-W and IOT space. This will include 5G.
    • Ensure we continue to build thought leadership through networking, industry associations Contribute to growing CTECH key strategic accounts.
    • Collaborate across divisions to drive CTECH services towards horizontal offering.
    • Meets with officers and senior management to maximize the coordination of BD objectives, strategies and associated practices.
    • Represents the organization in appropriate committees and forums involving specific product categories.  Provide external leadership through presentations and arranging meetings with executives in key industries and markets.
    • Manages the performance of direct reports by developing best BD practices and accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career coaching, feedback and guidance and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to. 
    • Owns and manages entire business development process for Consumer Technology.
    • Performs other duties as directed.


    Job Requirements:


    • Extensive business development experience, at Director level or above, specifically within the IoT and 5G space, including engagement in recent 5G developments.
    • Extensive track record of driving growth and building new revenue streams on a large scale across a region or globally.
    • Commercially savvy (past experience in growing business with strategic accounts), ideally with contacts and existing relationships with the major companies within the IoT & 5G space, including large technology organisations.
    • Ideally the incumbent will also have connections with multiple industries beyond consumer technology (e.g. medical, industrial).
    • University Degree in related disciplines, ideally MBA and/or advanced technical degree (preferred)
    • Consulting Experience and/or strong demonstrated change management experience.
    • Experience creating and implementing business processes.
    • Direct industry (Consumer Technology / Electronics) experience preferred.
    • Team Management experience.
