    Responsibilities

    UL is seeking a Solar Project Manager to join the AWS Solar Services team in San Diego, CA.

     

    Primary duties will include:

    • Manage high profile Independent Engineering and Technical Advisory projects for project financing, sales and acquisitions primarily for solar projects and portfolios (including wind), overseeing solar technology review, civil and electrical design review, review of commercial and technical contracts, project schedule, project financial model, CAPEX and OPEX costs, environmental and permitting review, site visits and construction monitoring.
    • Compile and complete IE and TA reports and summarize key results and conclusions. Ensure a quality of work that meets and exceeds client expectations. Integrate all review sections from UL-AWST and subconsultants’ multi-disciplinary team and ensure that UL-AWST’s technical and commercial analysis is consistent throughout sections.
    • Prepare proposals detailing scope of work, team, budget and schedule for completion.
    • Work with internal resources, associate project managers, project managers, as well as sub-consultants. Ensure project deliverables stay on time, on target, and on budget.

    • Work with Lenders and Developers as the main client interface for AWST. Attend client meetings with lenders and developers as needed.
    • Perform portions of required contract reviews, studies and analysis and draft IE and TA report sections, depending on project need and candidate’s core competencies.
    • Prepare communication plan and related project status reports. Facilitate and lead regular status meetings with internal project team, sponsors, and stakeholders.
    • Work with multi-disciplinary team to identify project risks, barriers, and issues and propose possible solutions and mitigation strategies.
    • Ensure the use of best practices and apply lessons learned from previous projects.
    • Review of project contracts and financial models.
    • Perform site visits during construction and operation and perform monthly construction monitoring site visits to review progress against technical specifications, budget and milestone schedule. Compile and review site visit reports and monthly construction monitoring reports.
    • Support AWST’s due diligence cost databases including providing updates from project datasets.
    • Represent UL-AWST at conferences and business development meetings as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • University degree in Engineering or related field plus generally 6-8 years of directly related experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to facilitate customer meetings, negotiate and influence outcomes.
    • Strong program/project management and leadership skills to manage projects utilizing personnel from multiple disciplines.
    • Ability to identify and manage priorities as demonstrated by the ability to establish, trackand meet schedules for multiple projects while maintaining high quality and exceptional customer service.
    • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 25%).
