    Exciting growth opportunity within our Standards team in RTP, NC!


    Under minimal supervision, performs as the project manager and completes all related duties for Panels that are politically-sensitive, high-profile, and/or significant to UL or ULC Standards business needs. Coordinates delivery of unique standards products and services to customers. Demonstrated ability to actively serve on and contribute to internal and/or cross-functional teams. Positively represents the department on external activities.

    • Successfully manages complex project issues with limited guidance.
    • Manages a workload predominately comprised of business-critical, politically-sensitive, priority, and/or time sensitive issues.
    • Significantly contributes to complex special assignments at the direction of Standards Management that require a detailed knowledge of UL’s Standards or ULC Standards Development policies, procedures, and systems.
    • Employs excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrates ability to relate effectively to others. Leverages established credibility with internal and external customers to drive for results.
    • Takes the initiative to contribute to business needs or directives.
    • Performs other duties as directed.

    This role requires strong technical skills, customer service, communication skills and attention to detail and is an opportunity to positively impact the UL Mission.

    This role is located in Research Triangle Park, NC and reports to the Standards Operations Manager.


    To succeed in this role, you should:

    • Have a University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree) in Engineering or a Technical discipline.
    • Six years of experience required, knowledge and understanding of the Internet of Things (drones, smart cities, 3D printing, wearables).
    • Demonstrated ability to work constructively and collaboratively with internal and external contacts. 
    • Ability to lead and train internal and external customers on department policies, procedures, and systems.
    • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems. 
    • Proven experience in interpreting, supporting, and executing on broad management directives under minimal supervision. 
    • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills in all phases of a project.
