Entry Level Testing Associate

Have you ever thought about whether it will be safe to pay for the metro with your mobile phone? To ensure that all these new technologies are working correctly, UL’s Transaction Security (UL TS) division tests and certifies these technologies in Point-of-Sale payment terminals, ATMs, mobile phones, online shops and payment cards on behalf of international schemes like Mastercard and Discover, just before they get launched to the market.

UL TS is hiring a Technical Analyst for our Global Compliance and Interoperability Services (CIS) department. CIS ensures interoperability of payment cards, terminals, host systems and e-commerce systems by delivering testing and certification services to the major payment schemes and top 500 financials. As a result of the gained knowledge and experience from this certification services, UL enables a better time to market for upcoming changes of secure transaction infrastructures needed for industry trends, like mobile payments and e-ticketing solutions for public transit.

The Technical Analyst’s main focus is performing certification and quality evaluation activities on mobile payment phones, payment cards and card acceptance devices like Point-of-Sale terminals, ATMs, pin pads, electronic cash registers to ensure the relevant regional and global payment products are working properly. This includes but it not limited to using the relevant tools, testing, analyzing and validating test results provided by the customer, solving issues, and reporting to the customer and to the international schemes. You will remotely support the customer during their test activities and the certification process in order to achieve a smoothly running certification. As a Technical Analyst you have the opportunity to work with the latest testing tools. You will be based in the Atlanta office, yet interact with the Technical Analysts in our other regions on a daily basis. You will participate in improvement of business efficiency by maintaining test procedure documents and tools as well. The Technical Analyst will be reporting into the CIS Manager in the Netherlands. 

• Validation activities: use and configure tools and templates in the appropriate way, analyze and validate test results, report on failures, and advise the customer on how to solve issues found.
• Support global customers remotely during their testing activities by phone or email.
• Maintain project archives, including all deliverables, input and output documents and test results.
• Ensure high quality and proper management of client deliverables, client input documents and test results.
• Report clearly and in a structured way to customers and international payment schemes like Mastercard and Discover.
• Advise on the certification results towards the international schemes and prepare the official certification documents.
• Cooperate, share knowledge and align with other Technical Analysts within the other regions.
• Contribute to optimizations through process improvements, development of test automation scripts or other topics to improve and grow UL’s business.
• Attend related training sessions to become expert in transaction technology.
• Maintain knowledge of standards, specifications and rules of the international payment schemes, including new technologies and innovations.
• Performs other duties as directed.

• You have an analytical approach in your work and like to be technically challenged.
• You have a basic understanding of testing/certification processes and are acquainted with Microsoft Office tools.
• Preferably you have knowledge of Point-of-Sale terminal/ATM and host testing technology and operation, especially in the LAC payment domain.
• You have a feel for responsibility and accuracy and are attentive to detail.
• You are capable to run your work fast and efficiently, are self-motivated, proactive and flexible to adapt to different scenarios.
• You are a flexible team player, global thinker and welcoming towards innovations.
• You possess good spoken and written English language skills, any other language is a plus.

• University Degree (Equivalent to a Bachelor's or Master's degree) in a technical discipline.
