The Business Development & Innovations Director will be responsible for, sourcing, due diligence and managing venture investments at UL Ventures. Partners with business divisions and geographic regions to ensure a successful due diligence analysis and post investment opportunities. Partners with corporate functions to ensure the appropriate processes are in place and risks are mitigated. Plans and directs program schedules and budgets as needed. Reports to VP & Managing Director of UL Ventures.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the coordination of the Identification, Prioritization, Due Diligence analysis and recommendations for investments in venture-backed companies, and works closely with due diligence teams and other subject matter experts.
  • Recommends and develops the investment thesis and venture investment approach, and coordinates the implementation with relevant corporate functions and business divisions.
  • Develops and maintains roadmap, tools and documents, as well as pipeline of potential investments.
  • Maintains relationships with external stakeholders such as Venture Capital firms, Angel Investment groups, portfolio companies, and others in the ecosystem. Represent UL in portfolio companies’ board meetings.
  • Benchmarks best practices, drives process excellence, portfolio companies to UL Business collaboration, and knowledge transfer with each deal.
  • Reviews past investments to identify lessons learned and enhance future deals.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

 

Qualifications

  • University Degree (Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree) in Business Administration.
  • Finance, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or Manufacturing.
  • Technology from an accredited program plus eight years of Operational related experience.
  • MBA Preferred.
  • Strong program management and leadership skills to manage initiatives requiring crossfunctional and cross geography teams.
  • Competence in financial analysis.
  • Analytical skills requisite for developing due diligence and integration roadmap and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in both market intelligence and due diligence.
