Responsible for strategic C&I (Commercial & Industrial) integration management process, including the full program/project managing BU-wide company integrations usually involving multiple complex work streams and deliverables and helping drive them to successful implementation within budget and on-time.

 

Ensures strategic synergies are capitalized on while planning, coordinating, and helping formulate and communicate program schedules, budgets and successful desired outcomes. Creates program/project(s) starting at the end of the Due Diligence phase (to better understand how strategic targets and decisions are formed and required items for successful integration) and continuing to Day 1 activities through full successful integration of the new entity into the BU. Interfaces with stakeholders on applicable matters and helps functional workstream team members achieve successful results. Oversees the coordination of integration activities fully and works cross-functionally, cross-regionally, and cross-divisionally/BU when required, with teams to ensure high-quality on-time, on-budget success. Creates & Monitors program/project milestones and deliverables and may assign work of project team(s) that may be formed as part of critical C&I cross-functional workstreams.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Creates and manages overall integration program/project plan, generated from multiple Integration workstreams and Integration Leaders to Integrate C&I Acquisitions.   Working with functional workstream leads, accountable for identifying all milestones, interdependencies and completion dates to ensure overall integration meets expected final integration date and on-budget.

 

  • Owns the project management for the identified integrations, which includes but is not limited to the focusing on the strategic objectives of the integration as well as the tactical planning, ongoing coordination, meetings, follow-up, communication, and achieving and/or exceeding milestones set forth in the project plan.

 

  • Proactively identifies, with functional integration workstream lead(s)/team(s) any potential and/or real risks to project plans, timelines, budgets, resources and then works to successfully and quickly mitigate and resolve those risks. Plans for contingencies as well. Supports Integration Leaders as well as functional workstream leaders, as needed, to help drive toward timely Integrations which achieve and/or exceed the initial investment case, including but not limited to achieving acquisition synergies

 

  • Contributes to the creation and on-going maintenance of integration best practices, tools and templates (and Due Diligence as this leads to consistency and success with integrations when that time comes) to enable highly successful integrations of acquisitions and continually improve on processes.

 

  • Manages with Integration Leaders the process to provide regular stakeholder updates, including to the C&I Leadership Team. Working with C&I communications lead, ensures there is consistency of message being delivered to the business about the integration initiatives, synergies and key status updates, etc. and then provides regular project management updates to relevant stakeholders on major milestones/initiatives as well as any risks and plans to mitigate any challenges.

 

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • University degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, Strategy/Innovation or related field plus generally 8 years of business experience (at least five years project management experience).
  • MS Project, PowerPoint and Excel skills required.
  • PMP or CAPM (Project Management) certifications preferred.
  • Acquisition Integration experience a strong plus.
  • Good understanding of the C&I business strategy and vision (and how it fits in the overall UL strategy/vision) as well as strong business knowledge across strategy, operations, process, service offerings, teams and IT
  • Understands each deal’s strategic goals , the deal’s value targets and assists in delivery of synergies and has end-to-end business knowledge, helping him/her drive the integration program/project as well as delivering on timelines, budgets, etc
  • Strong project management skills, organizational skills and business acumen as well as the ability to be adaptable/flexible and work collaboratively within and between BUs, Divisions, and Corporate Functions ensuring achievement of results. Needs to be comfortable working in “the grey.”
  • Demonstrates an understanding of how Integration decisions impact business results as well as strong leadership abilities including but not limited to effectively building diverse and highly collaborative teams and planning and thinking strategically.
  • Ability to successfully interact with all levels of the organization, work within a highly matrixed environment and to influence key process stakeholders as needed.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills are key to success, including strong listening, negotiation, persuasion and presentation and facilitation skills with current and new employees.
  • Demonstrates the ability to listen, learn and teach. Proficient in the use of project management tools and application of continuous process improvement methodologies such as Lean Sigma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in and understand diverse cultural environments.
  • Ability to travel globally as required.
