Responsibilities

 

 

The Field Engineering Communications Specialist will own and manage all internal communications for UL’s Field Engineering Organization. This position is being introduced during an exciting time of transformation and will enjoy a highly visible and fast-paced environment where the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities is essential. This position calls for a creative, talented communications professional with excellent project and change management skills. The ideal candidate must be able to process technical content to create communications for all levels in the organization. Strong writing and editing skills and the ability to work collaboratively is essential. The Communication specialist will report to the Commercial & Industrial Communications Manager and will work closely with the Field Engineering Marketing Manager to promote the business across all internal channels.

 

 

OVERVIEW

  • Support planning and execution of internal Field Engineering communications programs and initiatives that demonstrate thought leadership and operational relevance
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues and key stakeholders to ensure alignment and support of core strategies and initiatives and consistency of messaging
  • Write and edit all communications including presentations, website content, newsletters, senior leader communications, and webcasts
  • Own all Field Engineering internal communication vehicles; i.e., SharePoint, Collaboration sites, Yammer, etc.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Develop toolkits and communications to help facilitate process change, transformation and go-to-market strategies

 

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS CHANNEL MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and post content on the UL Intranet, including services, news, events, and more
  • Provide support as needed to the global marketing team, ensuring business-wide programs are effectively deployed via UL digital properties

 

TOOLS & TRAINING

  • Collaborate with marketing manager, sales and engineering to develop tools, such as training materials covering new and existing service offerings and operational changes

METRICS & ANALYTICS

  • Monitor and analyze standard communications metrics to track, measure and report on the success of communications initiatives: intranet traffic, click-through and email open rates, surveys, and more

 

 

TRANSFORMATION INITIATIVES

  • Support internal communication efforts associated with business transformation initiatives
  • Collaborate with external marketing manager to ensure alignment of messaging

 

 

Qualifications

  • University degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field, plus generally two years of related experience
  • 5 years of communications experience in B2B professional services including interaction with senior-level management
  • A creative thinker with demonstrated success in translating broad concepts and ideas into clear and logical communications, leveraged in multiple venues
  • Executive presence and professionalism
  • Experience working in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent grasp of communication trends and issues
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, editing and presentation skills
  • Strong project management skills, change management expertise a plus
  • Unyielding attention to detail
  • Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on SharePoint

Travel requirement: 10-25%
