    Our laboratory tests industrial grade products that are designed to send energy to the grid, load banks, batteries, electric vehicles, and trucks. The testing conducted here ranges from Unintentional Islanding, to Voltage/Frequency trips, to Temperature Tests. Specialized test equipment is regularly used based on the intended device application. This equipment includes solar simulators, grid simulators, power analyzers, and various loads. The products tested in this lab can range from 30W to 300kW, they include:

    • Inverters
    • Combiner Boxes
    • Solar Chargers
    • PV Modules and Mounting Hardware
    • Batteries
    • Trucks/Electric Vehicles 

    We are seeking an experienced engineer to join our Energy Systems and e-Mobility team to help serve the fastest growing industry within UL. Our customers are designing new technologies for energy storage, electric vehicle charging, industrial trucks and power inverters. For the right candidate, the position may be filled in any of our main offices throughout the United States

    • Conclude on your own the project scope and develop a preliminary plan of investigation accordingly
    • Determine the project specifications such as time and sample requirements by analyzing our clients input, supplemental data and product construction.
    • Discuss with your clients technical issues, explain procedures and requirements and negotiate completion date and sample requirements.
    • Establish appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer's information, examining samples, and applying Standard requirements.
    • Notify your client of any areas in which the product is not in compliance or of any changes in project scope or specifications
    • Coordinate or conduct laboratory activities by preparing data sheets, scheduling and establishing completion dates.
    • Communicate project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports.


    University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an ABET accredited program plus five years directly related certification work experience in energy storage, electric vehicle charging, industrial trucks and/or power inverters.


    Detailed knowledge of the technical vocabulary common to the appropriate discipline. Working knowledge of conformity standards in use in areas of expertise. Demonstrated ability to apply project-handling concepts in use in areas of expertise, including application to complex, new, or unusual products. Working knowledge of industry issues, needs, and problems.
