Overview

On a day-to-day basis, consumers are using the payment infrastructure by withdrawing money from ATMs, purchasing goods in shops and performing online payments. To ensure that all these new technologies are working correctly, UL Transaction Security (UL TS) tests and certifies these technologies just before they get launched to the market. As example, have you ever considered the bank deducting more money from your account compared to what you withdraw from the ATM? The feeling as consumer not to worry about this is the level of security which the Technical Analyst brings.

UL TS is hiring a Technical Analyst for our UL TS Test Center team in North America. UL TS ensures interoperability of payment cards, terminals and host systems by delivering testing and certification services to the major payment schemes and TOP 500 financials. As a result of the gained knowledge and experience from this certification services, UL TS enables a better time to market for our customers.

The Technical Analyst guides the customer and performs the test activities in order to achieve a smoothly running certification process. Your main focus is defining tests projects (together with your customer) and performing test activities (using the relevant test tools, analyzing and validating test results, reporting to the customer, etc.).

Responsibilities:

As a Technical Analyst, you will focus on the definition of compliance projects together with and for our clients and will perform software testing related activities.

This includes using test tools, analyzing findings, validating test results against technical specifications, aligning with payment schemes like MasterCard and Visa, and reporting to the client. You will participate in the development of test procedure documents, test specifications and test tools as well.

You will be involved in innovative projects which result in more efficient work processes and new services added to our portfolio.

The Technical Analyst has the following tasks and responsibilities:-

  • Technology – interpret, understand, and keep up to date with the functionalities and technical specifications of the products being verified;
  • Technical project management – project scoping, communicate progress and results to clients, manage expectations of stakeholders, deliver in time and report correctly and to-the-point;
  • Test activities – use and configure test tools in the appropriate way, understand and follow test methodologies, clearly report communicate observations, verdicts and next actions;
  • Analysis and problem solving – analyze findings and validate test results, pinpoint issues and communicate issues with client’s developers and product owners;
  • Innovations – have an open and creative mind, be able to recognize new business opportunities, improve internal processes;
  • Communication - align with clients and payment schemes like MasterCard and Visa.
  • Quality and integrity - ensure high quality and proper management of client products, deliverables, input documents and test results.

Qualifications

Qualifications:  

  • You have a relevant technical Master or Bachelor degree which proves your analytical skills and technical approach. Examples are Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics;
  • You have minimum of one to two years relevant working experience, which includes:
  • Software testing methodologies, compliance processes, test execution, technical analysis, reporting;
  • Familiarity with card payment standards, such as EMV, ISO8583, MasterCard and Visa requirements.
  • Must have experience with Mobile Payments and a Testing background
  • You welcome technological innovations and an experimental mindset;
  • Have an innate sense of responsibility, accuracy and you are attentive to detail;
  • Ability to identify and address addressing clients’ needs;
  • Can work independently to a deadline and you are capable to run your work efficiently;
  • Good spoken and written English language.
  • An international team player with professional attitude towards clients and colleagues;
  • Flexible to travel and – optionally – willing to work from client location;
  • Challenged by and succeed in achieving predefined measurable personal and project goals;
  • Self-motivated, proactive and flexible to adapt to different scenarios and welcoming towards innovations.
