The Strategic Marketing Director leads the global Health Sciences marketing organization and functions as the key leader to drive customer engagement and brand awareness strategies. This position will be responsible for architecting and deploying a world class branding strategy that will bring the market leading services offered by UL to new audiences and markets. A successful candidate for this role must have personal drive and significant creativity to move Health Science’s marketing activities into the digital medium. Creating well thought through and customer tested campaigns that drive lead generation, nurturing and conversion will be a critical deliverable for this role. This person will partner with the individual Service Line Leaders and other executives to create regional and segment relevant messaging. They will be responsible for managing the marketing budget and deploying innovative marketing solutions that meet the needs of the commercial teams.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for defining and delivering market communications campaigns including strategy development/planning, identification of insights, selection of the most effective vehicles, budget management and research/metrics.
  2. Will own the transition of marketing activities to social and digital marketing tools
  3.  ead the development and deployment of the new Health Sciences global brand
  4. Develops the annual marketing plan and the strategies, tactics and resources necessary to achieve goals and objectives. Develops and tracks metrics and success criteria for all marketing programs and activities.
  5. Directs and manages the global Health Sciences marketing team to ensure the implementation of effective campaigns, including but not limited to print, digital and web based campaigns. Manages a marketing team capable of carrying out the necessary marketing strategies and tactics
  6. Works closely with key internal and external stakeholders to develop marketing and advertising strategic direction. Oversees day-to-day relationship with selected advertising agencies to drive consumer campaigns and plans.  
  7. Educates team on new social media tools (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and effectively leverages them to create a dialogue with consumer target audience.
  8. Partners with UL’s Corporate Communications team to create interdisciplinary synergies and alignment.
  9. Partners with UL’s Research team to develop campaign effectiveness and ROI models.
  10. Works with related industry and business unit General Managers to maximize Business to Business value of consumer campaign.
  11. Manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.
  12. Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications

University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree) in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or a related discipline plus generally ten years of experience in professional marketing with program managing marketing strategies and advertising campaigns.

 

Master’s in Business or Advertising is preferred.

 

Strategic management experience with oversight of creating marketing strategy and leading personnel.
