Reporting to the Global Marketing Manager, the Marketing Specialist will work with both the HQ U.S. commercial team and broader global marketing organization to effectively plan, support and execute localized marketing activities: email campaigns, promotional materials, webinars, tradeshows, social media, advertising, media relations and internal communications. Assist the Global Marketing Manager of the Building & Life Safety Technologies division budget and track spending for U.S. and global activities to ensure positive return-on-investment, generate leads and elevate UL’s brand awareness across key global markets. Conduct ongoing program, trend and market analysis to provide recommendations to improve current activities and/or building to refine future plans.




  • Coordinate and oversee division U.S. marketing activity calendar: tradeshows, sponsorships, customer summits, workshops, webinars, email marketing, newsletters, press releases, social media, whitepapers, blog posts, and more
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues (sales, business development, engineering, marketing) to define messaging that supports sales and marketing efforts
  • Assist in planning U.S. go-to-market strategy and drives execution of marketing activities
  • Prepare compelling messaging and content for promotions across various channels that supports strategies and brand awareness
  • Review and edit communications copy to ensure consistency of UL brand messaging, positioning, and value proposition
  • Coordinate with in-house agency and/or external vendors
  • Provide support as needed to the global marketing team to execute global strategies with regional emphasis and ensure tactics are consistently employed within brand guidelines
  • Track local and global budget to measure annual marketing spend and ensure positive return-on-investment for all activities    


  • Help research, select and manage all external customer events for U.S., including trade shows, sponsorships, customer summits, workshops and webinars
  • Coordinate with sales and business development to create individual event goals and strategies, and track ROI
  • Develop and coordinate booth graphics, collateral and other booth material
  • May serve as on-site coordinator to ensure seamless event execution



  • Research media channels to cost efficiently reach target markets
  • Plan, negotiate, purchase and track print and digital advertising
  • Craft marketing campaigns to assist in the launch of new or enhanced service offerings
  • Ensure all promotion is consistent with UL brand standards


  • Support local public relations and media efforts
  • Research and help secure speaking opportunities for UL executives and subject matter experts
  • Proactively develop relationships with key media/editors in target markets
  • Write press releases and social media posts
  • Support the development of value-added content by collaborating with engineering & business development on whitepapers, blog posts, and more


  • Collaborate with the local sales, engineering and global marketing team to develop sales tools, such as presentations, brochures, sell sheets and more, covering local service offerings


  • Assist with market and trend research to ensure services and messages capitalize on new opportunities and are properly targeted
  • Help maintain insights on key customers, competitors and trade associations


  • Ensure leads from promotional efforts are properly managed in marketing/sales automation tools
  • Monitor and analyze standard marketing metrics to track, measure and report on the success of marketing initiatives: web traffic, email subscriptions, sales leads, click-through and email open rates, search engine rankings, etc.


  • Assist with market and trend research to ensure services and messages capitalize on new opportunities and are properly targeted
  • Help maintain insights on key customers, competitors and trade associations


  • Develop and post content on the UL Intranet and division website pagesincluding services, news, events, and more
  • Provide support as needed to the global marketing team, ensuring business-wide programs are effectively deployed via UL digital properties



  • University degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field, plus generally two to three years of related experience
  • Experience in a B2B professional services environment is preferred
  • English fluency

  • Excellent writing and editing abilities in additional to oral communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and CMS platforms (Wordpress)
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (Microsoft Dynamics), email marketing platforms (Marketo) and Photoshop is preferred
  • Ability to travel within United States and internationally (up to 25%)
