Responsibilities

Under general direction of the Business Development Director, the Business Development Specialist coordinates with UL’s larger customers and demand drivers across the Wire and Cable industry in multiple W&C market verticals. The Specialist assists in carrying out pre-determined strategies with industry leads to generate revenue growth. The Specialist also builds and maintains strong client and partner relationships and participates in customer or industry meetings to ensure customer satisfaction. Finally, the Specialist promotes the organizations capabilities to clients, and identifies target opportunities to be shared with Business Development Managers in order to drive a foundation of industry growth for UL.

  • Provide assistance to management on potential business needs and follows-up on existing customers, in order to help develop product sales, particularly with new programs or services.
  • Responds effectively to urgent and sensitive customer issues, and focuses on sustaining customer satisfaction and loyalty by maintaining a relationship with the customer.
  • Develops and masters researching techniques to identify prospective customers, and to identify the decision makers in the prospective organizations.
  • Develops and manages relationships with assigned prospects and customers, and works with the sales staff to assess account potential.
  • Assists in project management, event planning, event management and coordination, direct promotional activities of new programs and customer engagements.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications

  • University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor degree) in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline plus generally three to five years of relevant experience in handling business development or direct sales activity.  Commercially savvy engineers with strong backgrounds in new product or program development and project management will also be considered.
  • Knowledgeable in new product development and portfolio management concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability on how to develop a business.
  • Demonstrated ability on how to develop a strategy, cold-call, execute on a promotion, build or manage a strategy and build relationships.
