We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Lead at UL Standards & Engagement.

 

This is a hybrid role open to candidates who can commute two days a week to the offices in either Evanston, IL or Raleigh, NC.

 

The Senior Project Lead will actively participate in standards development by working with subject matter experts, Technical Panels and Technical Committees to develop requirements and coordinate standards development activities to achieve the strategic and operational goals of UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE). The Senior Standards Specialist will leverage expertise, experience, and stakeholder networks to anticipate issues, identify patterns, and propose solutions.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

As the Senior Project Lead, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you: 

  • Support the advancement and implementation of safety guidelines specific to energy, power, industrial, and hazardous locations, and other measures that contribute to enhancing safety in these industries.
  • Manage standards development activities utilizing expertise and knowledge of accreditation and internal business requirements to maximize efficiencies and improve the stakeholder experience.
  • Manage implementation of small to medium sized projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Provide support and guidance to project teams, fostering collaboration and effective project execution.
  • Primary point of contact on project related activities. Identify and assess project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Plan overall project, including defining project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines. Monitors progress throughout project lifecycle and coordinates interdependencies in collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including subject matter experts, industry partners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Contribute to the program management associated with assigned standards, providing input and recommendations to Program Managers related to their portfolio of standards.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

  • Strong project management and ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Solid technical background and in-depth knowledge of science and engineering principles relevant to the industry.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong facilitation, collaboration, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

 

 Professional education and experience requirements for the role include: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree. Technical degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 6 years of directly related experience.
  • Project Management Certificate, preferred.
  • Familiarity with US and Canadian Standards and Codes, various national, regional and international standardization bodies, a plus.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) relevant to conformity assessment
