We have an exciting opportunity for a Policy Insights Analyst at UL Standards & Engagement based in our Washington, D.C office.

 

The Policy Insights Analyst will actively monitor and analyze safety legislation, regulations, and policy developments to advance the mission of UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) to make the world safer, more secure, and sustainable. The Policy Analyst will evaluate the efficacy of current legislative policies and collaborate with policy makers to provide valuable insights and analytics that will inform decision making and development of new programs and policy-related market research initiatives.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

As the Policy Insights Analyst, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you: 

  • Monitor and analyze safety legislation, policy initiatives, and regulatory frameworks at the local, regional, and national levels. Identify strategic objectives to determine areas where policy focused market research can be applied.
  • Collaborate with government officials, policy makers, and regulatory bodies to understand their research and data needs, provide strategic insights, and assess the effectiveness and impact of safety policies and regulations.
  • Conduct interviews with stakeholders, industry experts and government officials to gather insights, understand perspectives, and inform policy formulation.
  • Assist in the development of market research studies using quantitative and qualitative methods to gather data and insights related to current and emerging safety policies and regulations.
  • Compile research findings, regulatory analysis, and recommendations into clear and concise reports and presentations for policy makers and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the development and implementation of research strategies, analytical frameworks, methodologies, and tools to enhance ULSE market research capabilities and guide initiatives.
  • Continuously monitor industry developments, technology advancements, and emerging practices in safety standards.

  • Knowledge of government policy development process, regulatory frameworks, and legislative procedures at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods, statistical analysis, and data interpretation.
  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills, with ability to synthesize complex information and generate actionable insights.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders at various levels, including policy makers and industry experts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to effectively convey research findings and recommendation to diverse audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in using statistical software packages, data visualization tools, and MS Office suite.

 Professional education and experience requirements for the role include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, social sciences, economics, statistics, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in working in policy-related market research, legislative policy research and statistics is preferred.
  • Experience conducting online research and utilization of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Statistical Packages (SPSS or SAS), and Data Visualization tools (such as Tableau, Power BI) preferred.
