We have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Specialist at UL Standards & Engagement. The Compliance Specialist will provide basic to intermediate level technical services to support various program operations of Standards Compliance and Intellectual Property (IP) Management for UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE). The primary function is to monitor, manage and safeguard the use of IP and assets in collaboration with ULSE Legal and Data Science teams.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

As the Compliance Specialist, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you: 

  • Requires broad knowledge and experience in intellectual property protection.
  • Conduct research through internal databases to authenticate IP ownership or access.
  • Process and manage supplier relationships including payment of invoices.
  • Understand key business IP protection drivers to accomplish tasks.
  • Explains complex IP protection information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Respond to stakeholder access petitions and resolves basic issues related to these requests.
  • Analyze IP surveillance information and provide intelligence leads to copyright infringement.
  • Manage compliance dashboard and reports for monthly, quarterly and/or annual distribution.
  • Monitor social media and web activities to safeguard use of intellectual property and report infractions.
  • Provide technical expertise to support conformance opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as directed

  • Demonstrated ability in identifying and authenticating IP copyright usage.
  • The technical ability to analyze use of IP for potential infringement.
  • Strong organizational, research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively in a deadline-driven and detail-oriented environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

 Professional education and experience requirements for the role include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in regulatory affairs, legal studies, accounting, business or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ of directly related experience.
  • Prior experience working with Intellectual Property and/or compliance, a plus
