What you’ll learn & achieve:


The Senior Digital Security Specialist is a specialized, high performing digital security subject matter expert. The Senior Digital Security Specialist applies their expertise in Application Security, Network Security, Data Security, and / or other elements of Enterprise Digital Security to operational initiatives and projects to ensure that UL systems and networks are secure and data is protected.


  • Creates digital and application security related policies & processes.
  • Knowledge of general IT infrastructure technology, systems and management processes and applicability to UL systems.
  • Leads preprogram management and process design and process improvement projects.
  • Coordinates vendor product demonstrations and presentations.
  • Conducts or supervise the analyses application security products from various vendors.
  • Plans and manages pilot or proof of concept with selected vendors.
  • Leads moderately complex security projects, as required.
  • Provides guidance and oversight to digital security analysts.
  • Conducts threat modelling, architecture reviews, code scanning and penetration testing.
  • Leads vulnerability management program
  • Participates in Patch Management program
  • Conducts Red/Blue Teaming exercises
  • Ability to engage and communicate effectively with senior level management.
  • Ability to communicate information risk-related concepts to technical as well as nontechnical audiences.
  • Analyzes integration between Security and system development life cycle.
  • Presents high level Security, IT or Data Privacy to stakeholder.
  • Collaborates with cross functional teams and getting their buy in.
  • Provides digital and application security guidance and deliverables to security projects.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

What makes you a great fit:

University degree (equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s degree) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field required
• Generally 10 years of related IT experience and 5 years’ experience as a leader or analyst in Digital Security.
• Knowledge of (information) risk management related standards or frameworks such as COSO, ISO 2700x, CobiT, ISO 24762, BS 25999, NIST, ISF Standard of Good Practice and ITIL.
• Functional specific knowledge of application development, Web Development, and/or Networking. Also knowledge of OWASP, SDLC, Encryption, Identity and Access Management, data integrity measures.
• Command of Security toolsets such as SIEM, DLP, MAM, and/or IAM solutions and management therein.
