Underwriters Laboratories Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI) is seeking Summer 2023 Engineering Interns to join our Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI) for a 10-12 week research experience. FSRI research addresses the world’s unresolved fire safety risks and emerging dangers.
As an FSRI engineering intern, you will collaborate with other researchers to apply a variety of scientific knowledge based in the disciplines of fire science and analytical chemistry with the goal of improving fire safety. In this position, you will assist in initiating the development, execution and implementation of fire safety research projects. There are several intern opportunities in different research areas which include: battery fire suppression, thermal conductivity of materials, wildland urban interface fire mitigation, fire investigation, and chemical analysis of materials.
