What you’ll learn & achieve:

This role is hybrid based at our Northbrook, IL corporate office


Reporting to the Strategy Director, the Senior Strategy Manager will be part of the Strategy, Partnerships and Acquisitions team supporting strategy planning and development for the Enterprise and Advisory groups within UL Solutions, partnering with the Director and Leadership.  This is a critical role within the company and provides an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact within fast growth digital software, data and advisory businesses.


  • Support planning and coordination of all activities globally for the E&A businesses as it relates to strategy development, long-range business planning and implementation.
  • Lead and manage implementation of standardized strategy planning and execution process across all E&A businesses, leveraging Balanced Scorecard framework.
  • Develop strategic roadmap for both organic and inorganic growth while optimizing resources to achieve sustainable profitability and monitoring business performance metrics.  
  • Support inorganic and partnership opportunities through deal evaluation, strategic fit and synergy analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to improve E&A market, customer and competitive intelligence program to serve as information inputs into strategic decision making process.
  • Organize, implement and manage a regular cadence of strategy and execution reviews for all E&A businesses.
  • Assess new opportunities and review financial models for capital expenditures.
  • Prioritize expansion areas and new capabilities to be acquired.
  • Provide structure and guidance to businesses in developing annual execution plans to meet strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to global financial forecasts and budgets in collaboration with Finance and Customer Operating Units. 
  • Participate in ad-hoc strategy projects as directed. 





What makes you a great fit:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience to include at least 5 years in strategy
  • Understanding of software / SaaS businesses and business models preferred.
  • Requires strategic thinking and translation of vision into clear narratives.
  • Requires strong facilitation, presentation and listening skills.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organizational structure.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Business and Financial acumen.
