We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Procure to Pay to join our dynamic and growing organization. The Director of Procure to Pay is responsible for the management, direction, and vision of the procure to pay process. Develops relationships with suppliers that will allow for combined efforts that will take cost and steps out of the process, thereby improving performance of the sourcing organization.

 

The Director of Procure to Pay will manage the accounts payable processes, activities, and performance globally, optimizing operations to  maximize efficiency and minimize risk, including the maintenance of amounts owed, verifying invoices, computing discounts, coding expenses, preparing vouchers, reconciling applicable accounts, and issuing checks for payment. Evaluates and improves integrated procurement systems, processes, and resources as they pertain to the overall organization that reflects the priorities of others across the organization.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

As the Director Procure to Pay, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

  • Leads function to ensure that policies, processes, controls, training, job aids, and deployment of procurement and accounts payable personnel will optimize the ability of the organization to meet requirements for quality, cost and schedule.
  • Review all global or regional vendor agreements in a timely fashion, to ensure the organization maintains an uninterrupted supply of materials and services.
  • Lead the US accounts payable team managing the accounting function to ensure accuracy of amounts owed, validation of invoices and business expenses, accruals, proper coding of expenses, reconciliation of balances and payment of obligations.
  • Reviews global accounts payable processes to ensure proper internal controls, harmonization of processes, and maximize efficiencies. Analyze, develop, and implement process improvements to global processes.
  • Monitor and review global travel expense reporting to ensure effective processes and controls to minimize risk.
  • Monitor and manage capital project processes (i.e. analysis, reconciliation, forecasting, expenditure authorization, tracking and reporting) as required. Partner with key stakeholders to manage capital spending and ensure projects are capitalized timely and accurately.
  • Develop and execute a systematic approach to identify and execute ideas to further reduce prices, improve quality, accelerate delivery or take cost out of the procure-to-payables cycle.
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the procure to pay functions that can be used to manage service levels and demonstrate the effectiveness of the strategies, tactics and personnel.
  • Manage performance of direct reports by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing coaching and professional development goals, feedback and guidance and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

  • Cross-functional understanding of other finance groups, including purchasing/sourcing, capital purchasing, vendor setup, treasury functions and other related finance groups
  • Detailed understanding of relevant procurement standards affecting nonprofit organizations.
  • Analytical skills used in identifying discrepancies, explaining fluctuations, isolating root causes, and developing solutions.
  • Organization skills and attention to detail for producing quality work papers to be reviewed by internal management and external auditors.
  • Responsiveness and a sense of urgency, with focus on outcomes, structure, and process improvement for the short and long term.

Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, with preference to a degree in accounting, business, supply chain, economics or related field.
  • 10 years of experience in accounting and finance
  • Management experience leading teams and collaborating with various cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in MS Office is required.
