What you’ll learn & achieve:

  • Works with business to establish short-and long-term needs regarding the establishment of appropriate testing programs and the implementation of these laboratory activities within the appropriate laboratories.
  • Works with Business Development and PrEsto identify and pursue the development of requirements for test procedures beyond the scope of existing standards and requirements involving unique features and requiring the use of independent judgment. Works with other regional lab managers to determine the most effective location for the equipment and personnel to conduct the testing.
  • Leads a cross functional team of lab management and lab support management in the development and maintenance of state-of-the-art laboratory equipment.
  • Establishes the measurement criteria for the test proficiency training program and directs the management of competencies for laboratory personnel based upon short and long term needs.
  • Manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring understanding and adherence to all policies.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and practices mandated for the laboratories to ensure compliance to ISO 17025 as well as other defined accreditation requirements for the designated laboratories.
  • Champions continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job utilizing the Lean Sigma approach.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

What makes you a great fit:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. University education a plus.
  • 6+ years of leadership/management experience in an industrial laboratory, manufacturing, or plant environment required. Experience managing leaders required.
  • Familiarity with ISO 17025 referred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated abilbity to manage multiple department objectives, staffing, and budgets.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategies, build business plans where and when necessary and facilitate at public engagements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management for large scale build outs and major renovations to labs and facilities.
