What you’ll learn & achieve:

Under supervision, supports coordination and delivery of strategic initiatives focused on UL Solutions’ science leadership, world-class service delivery, operational excellence and operational innovation. As a member of the Science and Operations organization, prepares studies identifying and recommending approaches, resources and tools to increase the effectiveness and impact of UL Solutions’ science leadership, laboratory operations and field-based services including collecting and analyzing economic, technological, industry, customer, competitor, and other similar data. Collaborates with executive leadership and cross-functional teams on program design, program management, stakeholder management and strategic communications.


Job Responsibilities 

  1. Supports Science and Operations-related strategy and/or organization-wide initiatives by collaborating with subject matter experts, business leaders and operational leaders.
  2. Identifies, prioritizes, and assists in executing activities required to support science and operations strategies, priorities, and special initiative projects including initiatives led by the Chief Science and Operations Officer, Chief Scientist, Global Lab Operations and Field Engineering.
  3. Analyzes information regarding customers, products, markets, geographies, and competitors in science and operations related areas to assist in developing new and current opportunities.
  4. Interprets information to determine the costs and potential benefits to Science and Operations and UL Solutions.
  5. Examines corporate strategies and goals to determine areas where science and operations analysis should be focused.
  6. Assists with communicating Science and Operations strategic plan objectives to cross-functional, regional and local management.
  7. Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

What makes you a great fit:

  • University degree (equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s degree) in Business Administration, Science, Management, Engineering or a related field
  • Generally 5 years professional level related experience
  • Ability to work within a complex and often ambiguous environment.
  • Organization, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple initiatives with proven success in synthesizing large data sets related to a wide variety of functional business problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to express complex ideas, present results, and translate statistical and business terminology to various levels of management.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written, oral, presentation and meeting facilitation skills
  • Positive and collaborative interpersonal skills to work effectively with leaders and colleagues across the organization.
  • Creativity and curiosity to learn new ideas and ways of working with motivation and initiative to work in a fast-paced environment
