What you’ll learn & achieve:

Responsible for the global management and governance of laboratory safety, security, and business continuity planning and implementation of multiple laboratories in multiple locations serving multiple laboratory functions under more than one segment and customer operating unit.

  • Directs employees who are responsible for the daily activities of the lab safety, security, and business continuity and may manage employees in the same or similar role.
  • Implements and manages the vision, strategy, governance, programs, and training of the three critically important aspects of the protection of UL Solutions global laboratories and personnel:
    • Safety of Personnel: Develops, drives and executes the vision and strategy for a consistent approach to lab safety governance by partnering with EHS and others functions to define, communicate and socialize safety measures across enterprise labs and partners with Lab Operations to implement, adjust and improve lab safetet.
    • Security of Property and Proprietary Information: Develops, drives and executes the vision and strategy for a consistent approach to lab security governance by partnering with enterprise Security, Legal, Lab Operations and others to implement, adjust and improve lab security through implementation and compliance of applicable practices from ISO 27001 and other applicable documents.
    • Sustainability of Laboratory Locations and Activities in the Event of a Disaster: Develops, administers, and actively adjusts plans to minimize lab services interruptions and to enable service recovery (business continuity) for critical lab activities.
  • Works with leadership of engineering, laboratory operations, other departments, such as quality, accreditation, legal, EHS, security, etc., and business units to establish and meet and/or exceed customer satisfaction measurements. Develops common strategies to meet and/or exceed business objectives, and ensures the execution of strategies and goals.
  • Executes the vision and strategy for a consistent approach to lab safety governance.
    Has ownership of global laboratory operation’s “Safety Starts Here”
  • Develops programs, such as PPE, safety certification, etc. which enhance the wellbeing of our employees.
  • Monitors and adapts safety metrics in response to needs within the laboratories and areas which impact the laboratories.
  • Partners with EHS to define, communicate and socialize safety measures across enterprise labs.
  • Works with Lab Operations to implement, adjust, measure, and improve lab safety.
  • Develops and administers plans for service interruption and recovery (business continuity) for all lab support deliverables.
  • Develops consistent enterprise-wide Laboratory Business Continuity and Risk Reduction practices
  • Leads a cross functional and multi-regional team of lab leadership.
  • Establishes the measurement criteria and manages reports and dashboards to show current performance and future improvements.

What makes you a great fit:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory operations. 5-10 years of experience in a electrical, mechanical, or related lab.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Prior leadership experience highly preferred.
  • Previous knowledge or experience as a First Responder is a plus for this position.
  • Green Belt Certification and strong project management skills preferred.
  • Ability to travel 10-25%, occassionally internationally.
