What you’ll learn & achieve:

Reporting to the Director EHS, you will establish and promote safe and healthy working conditions for employees regarding electrical safety.  You will serve as the electrical safety subject matter expert (SME) to develop and improve the Electrical Safety Program.  You will serve as the electrical safety SME who recognizes and assures control of workplace electrical hazards.  You will interpret regulations related to electrical safety and ensure operations are compliant with international, federal, state and local regulations. 


Job Responsibilities:


  • Manage the Electrical Safety and Hazardous Energy Control programs, training content, and ensure compliant/ safe electrical operating procedures.
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on electrical safety topics and issues leveraging industry standards including the OSHA’s electrical standards, the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, and other electrical standards.
  • Assist lab and field teams with the implementation of safety controls associated with electrical work hazards including process development for worker protection. Participate in UL Solution’s Electrical Safety Authority teams.
  • Review LOTO procedures, protection plans and PPE for associated electrical work to ensure employees are well protected from electrical exposure hazards.
  • Work with outside consulting resources to manage the Arc Flash Analysis protocols and complete needed evaluations to help workers ensure they comply with safety requirements
  • Develop and conduct electrical safety training to ensure authorized and qualified workers maintain the appropriate level of knowledge for their job assignments.
  • Support company EHS programs
  • Conduct audits and reviews of electrical equipment, laboratory safety, field safety, and other locations to ensure compliance with NFPA 70E and other safety standards.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to ensure electrical safety activities represent best-in-class implementation.
  • Communicate subject matter content clearly, demonstrating excellent program management and implementation skills.  Manage, mentor and helps resolve safety and regulatory issues and communicates related topics to operations, management, safety committees, peers and field organizations.
  • Conduct job hazard assessments, personal protective equipment (PPE) hazard assessments and help manage the PPE program for electrical safety.
  • Be a focal point for specific electrical safety implementation
  • Lead incident investigations and identify corrective actions
  • Measure the performance of assigned safety programs and the progress of implementation through collaborative oversight using objective, data-driven information to ensure all applicable regulations are met.
  • Performs other duties as directed.



What makes you a great fit:

  • University Degree in Electrical, Industrial or Mechnical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Occupational Safety or related discipline
  • Minimum of (5) years of related experience with at least 2 years performing professional level electrical safety tasks with an emphasis in low voltage (<600VAC) including:  conducting worksite assessments to determine risks, assessing potential electrical hazards and controls, evaluating risks and hazard control measures and investigating incidents
  • Experience interpreting and applying current electrical codes and standards such as the NEC and NFPA 70E is required. 
  • Understanding of electrical schematics and electrical theory is necessary.
