What you’ll learn & achieve:

  • Use the established Fire Suppression product vision in concert with market understanding to inform the product strategy
  • Evaluate global market needs, pain points, and trends
  • Support and contribute to a go-to-market strategy, defining how value will be delivered to the customer/user, how the product is differentiated from the competition, and potential business models
  • Assist in prioritizing product functions and features into a product roadmap
  • Suggest a set of product goals, outcomes and corresponding metrics to continually evaluate against
  • Assist product managers to communicate the product vision, strategy and goals internally across the organization, as well as externally with clients
  • Work closely with product managers to monitor, analyze, and make recommendations to help manage the product roadmap
  • Partner with pricing management to research competition, highlight factors of differentiation for UL services, and seek client input to assess value of said services
  • Conduct market research that will inform the product, research and technical roadmaps
  • Assist with the capital investment process to support partner, build and buy decisions to grow segments
  • Partner with product managers towards the development of business cases for organic projects
  • Actively model and promote a set of desired behaviors aligned with UL’s Ways of Working
  • Take ownership of own career and professional development by documenting and communicating career aspirations and any associated development needs to direct manner
  • Reach across other functions and businesses to effectively communicate product management priorities
  • Support an efficient cross-functional matrix structure to enable effective product development lifecycle
  • Execute a robust set of processes to power all parts of the product development lifecycle from research/discovery to release management and product support
  • Leverage a standard set of product management tools to be used across the product organization at each of the stages of the lifecycle

What makes you a great fit:

  • 2 years or more of related discipline experience or demonstrated competency
  • 4-year University Degree in Technical, Marketing, Business or a related discipline
  • Proven ability to lead small groups of internal and external stakeholders towards desired outcomes in order to meet business objectives
  • Experience conducting discovery sessions with clients. prospects and stakeholders in order to diagnose business opportunities, elicit requirements and conduct other types of research
  • Strong communication and presentation (PowerPoint) skills
  • Market research skills – leverage internal and external resources to assist product management in taking a strong data-driven approach towards justifying capital investments
  • Formal training and/or certification in Product Management is a plus
  • Experience working with geographically disparate teams is highly preferred
  • Ability to collaborate across product management team, other CoUs and functions
  • Change advocate with drive for high performance
