What you’ll learn & achieve:

  • Supervises the day to day delivery of high quality testing services. Monitors the daily productivity and quality of work, allocates resources as required and troubleshoots/escalatesproblems as necessary.
  • Schedules, assigns, reviews and coordinates workflow to assure proper utilization and training of lab staff, ensuring all work is in accordance with regulatory and organizational policyand accreditation/compliance requirements.
  • Provides input into the annual budgetary goals, capital expenditure budget for lab equipment and tactical plans for assigned lab team.
  • Contributes to preparing instructions for test methods, procedures, quality control and maintenance procedures. Examines test samples, test performance and provides input regarding issues and/or problems with test/data sheets.
  • Operates machines and lab equipment, may perform routine maintenance of designated test equipment and laboratory area.
  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
  • Under supervision, manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, assist in hiring and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices
  • Other duties as directed

What makes you a great fit:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience performing electrical, physical, and/or environment testing in an industrial laboratory.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information.
  • Speaks credibly in area of own expertise.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships.
  • Ability to develop and present training materials using a variety of methods (group presentations, video, etc.)
  • Ability to analyze data and trends and draw useful conclusions
  • Strong customer focus and effective customer service skills.
