What you’ll learn & achieve:

UL is investing in its own digital transformation leveraging cloud solutions and services. Utilizing industry and market knowledge of design and architecture, the individual would be required to design, review and execute technology flow for customized applications at UL. The Segment Architect is responsible for the creation and execution of an application implementation strategy focused Enterprise solutions. The core of the strategy involves the design and construction of an optimized architecture that promotes performance, scalability, ease of support, service reuse and security while delivering business value through an accelerated application system development lifecycle.

 

The Segment Architect is responsible for overall solution design and delivery of segment wide, multi-channel solutions that directly align with the needs of UL's digital strategy. They will be tasked with translating business requirements into specific end to end application solutions. This includes working with UL thought leaders to understand the underlying business architecture and provide oversight over identification of functional requirements, creation of an appropriate technical design, construction activities, testing and deployment tasks.

 

The Segment Architect is expected to have experience designing across multiple systems such as web applications, web services (both WCF and RESTful), data strategy, and reporting services.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hands-on participation in data design and development.
  • Familiarity with software engineering design and principles.
  • Create and establish working partnerships with various technology and business groups across UL.
  • Produce system design documents and lead technical walkthroughs.
  • Advanced experience with data analysis, validation, and conversion.
  • Design solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Minimize technical exposure and risk on projects.
  • Collaboration with business users to develop solutions that meet specific business objectives.

Work closely with:

  • Infrastructure Leads to understand, validate, and action infrastructure impacts on solution architecture.
  • Development leads to design, validate, and execute architecture vision.
  • Project Management to coordinate solutions from technical perspective and minimize technical risk.
  • Operations and support teams to consider operational (non-functional) requirements.

What makes you a great fit:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS degree and 10+ years’ experience.
  • Process Analysis.
  • Strong Project Management Skills.
  • Experience in developing software using Agile including planning and estimating work effort and task breakdown.
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills.
  • Enthusiasm for cloud design and trends
  • Experience in working with large companies that have complex data solutions (or similar)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry trends and standards.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Exposure to ArchiMate
  • Exposure to Bizzdesign
  • Exposure to .NET development.
  • Exposure to Java development.
  • Exposure to Salesforce.
  • Exposure to Oracle.
  • Exposure to Data Architecture.
  • Interaction with Data Science & Data Engineering.
