What you’ll learn & achieve:

The Senior User Experience Design Manager will assemble the capabilities (people, process, financing, and technology) needed to create the ideal Internal User Experience. They will have the unique opportunity to build and implement new strategies, structures, and systems to enhance the human computer interaction within the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assemble the capabilities (people, process, financing, and technology) needed to own and improve the Internal User Experience.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to define, test, implement, and adjust the strategy.
  • Collaborate with other IT leaders to fulfill the IT vision of delivering a world-class integrated information and technology platform for growth to enable UL's mission.
  • Partner with Internal Stakeholders to create strategies that enhance the Internal User Experience
  • Design tools, processes, and structures to bring the strategy to life.
  • Prepare senior level executive presentations to share insights and obtain their support on the Internal User Experience initiatives.
  • Manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and followed.
  • Maintains professional contacts with other organizations, research institutions, and professional organizations.  Keeps abreast of technological changes and innovations in the information systems field. 
  • Interacts and partners with various IT vendors to provide the necessary products and services needed to meet the enterprise and business needs.
  • Benchmarking our efforts against both world class organizations in this space as well as UL’s competitors.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices

 

What makes you a great fit:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or greater in IT UX/UL Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Researcher or related field
  • 3-5 years of work experience in the user experience and/or Human Computer Interaction field including research, program design, measurements, and feedback gathering.
  • Strong empathy and facilitation skills to gain feedback and understand opportunities
  • Ability to think strategically and lead execution of the strategy
  • Have a startup mindset
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Project and change management skills
