What you’ll learn & achieve:

The VP Commercial Operations is a member of the Commercial Excellence Leadership Team and reports to the Chief Commercial Officer. This role owns and leads a Center of Excellence to execute the vision and strategy of all commercial operations capabilities including sales operations, sales enablement, customer care and advocacy, and lead-to-order process and governance. Working in close partnership with the business leaders in Revenue Management, the VP Commercial Operations drives continuous improvement efforts to achieve go to market excellence and drive efficiencies to ensure aligned execution of key strategic initiatives. Directs account-based strategy, management and planning, sales enablement and sales performance management. Directs administrative, operational and budgetary planning, for Commercial Operations.




  • Envision and drive continuous improvement efforts and operational priorities across teams to support a global One UL framework that is data-driven, produces a streamlined customer journey, and meets revenue goals. 
  • Spearhead collaborative efforts across COUs (Customer Operating Units) that drive changes in process & mindset around how we organize work, deliver functionality for customers, maintain customer-focused processes, and eliminate inefficiencies. 
  • Lead account based management strategy, governance and administration. Measure the performance of the go-to-market through metrics including pipeline activation and account planning with an eye toward continuous improvement. 
  • Partner with Transformation and Innovation to create a seamless end-to-end digital commercial experience to serve our customers that is unified across Commercial Operations and global sales teams. 
  • Leads Sales Enablement to ensure consistent, relevant training, provide the key assets and develop sales play processes for the commercial professionals. Ensure key measurements are maintained and utilized for continuous improvement.  
  • Leads sales performance management to design, measure and administer the sales incentive plan (SIP), design, deliver and measure quotas and establish sales crediting. 
  • Leads a best-in-class customer experience by providing a one stop solution for customer inquiries and be the first line of support for customers.
  • Guide and establish strategic priorities that require collaboration and interactions across business operating units and regional teams. 
  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop a commercial excellence digital innovation roadmap that supports a seamless customer experience. 
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, partner with functional experts across the organization to build the solutions, and work with internal leaders to successfully implement changes to deliver improved systems and processes. 
  • Oversee the governance of marketing and sales metrics, methodologies, and analytics across all platforms and data streams. 
  • Manages the performance of direct reports by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career counseling, feedback, and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to. 
  • Read and follow the UL Solutions Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices 
  • Performs other duties as directed.

What makes you a great fit:

  • University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree) in Business or a related disciplines plus generally 10+ years’ experience in Sales, Marketing or Finance within global organization.
  • Superior strategic skills, proven general management, and leadership abilities. A strong commercial orientation, but sensitive to public safety mission.
  • Capable of changing culture without negative impact.
  • Experience working with diverse, global teams strongly preferred
  • Experience managing and delivering clear, impactful communications to internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build credible relationships with multiple functions
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and influence behaviors to help change across an organization
