On a day-to-day basis, consumers use the global payment infrastructure by purchasing goods in shops, performing online checkouts, or withdrawing money from ATMs. UL supports customers, including the biggest brands in the world, in their ambition to make great digital payments products. Together with our partners in the industry we introduce and verify new payment technologies, mobile wallets, and innovative digital payment solutions.

 

We are hiring a Team Leader to lead a team and manage projects related to mobile payment device certification. The team leader has direct reports and is responsible for a team. Next to the direct reports, the team leader acts as a manager to guide colleagues in the concerned (project) team. The team leader can be a project lead for customer assignments within an area of technical expertise as assigned and is a Subject Matter Expert for standards and industry. Responsible to generate work and manage the delivery for the direct reports within the concerned (project) team.

 

In our Atlanta lab and in our other labs, we are testing, analyzing, validating and improving products from local and global clients. You will work on certification projects with direct customer interaction and hands-on testing. With guidance and support from your team, you will develop personal, technical, and market domain knowledge and skills to become a highly skilled professional technical analyst. 

What you’ll learn & achieve:

  • Leading a team of individuals, based in the US, Mexico, and Brazil and coordinating activity with a global team (EMEA and AP).
  • As a key member in NA, this position is responsible for managing the relationship with a key partner based in California.
  • The position manages 4 programs delivered from Atlanta and other labs.
  • A highly innovative business that is mainly new to the company
  • As the team follows innovative solutions and rollout of new products, the role involves activity in different stages of opportunity identification, conversion, and program lifecycles.
  • Manage the performance of direct reports by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career counseling, feedback and guidance and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to
  • Serve as Project Lead for customer assignments within an area of technical expertise. Communicate project status and results to clients. Responsible for defining project scope, planning, report review and accuracy, meeting agreed deadlines, and managing project related activities. Coordinate department activities and instructions to staff, scheduling and reviewing work to keep project completion dates
  • Interact with customers and communicates (technical) issues. Acts to address customer concerns and resolve issues for their project
  • Support the business externally through meetings at client sites, attendance at industry related events and other meetings
  • Integrate continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job at the project or customer level. Manage and reviews related internal documents for accuracy
  • Maintain/improve technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, obtaining applicable certifications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of the art practices and participating in professional societies and cross-departmental task forces

What makes you a great fit:

  • 5 years of directly related experience
  • Deep technical knowledge: an advanced technical degree such as an M.Sc. or higher, and/or relevant experience in industry projects involving proficiency in EMV, mobile payments, transit, access control, and e-commerce.
  • Capabilities to be involved in commercial conversations, and the skills to develop programs, and eventually manage those on a day-to-day basis.
  • Flexibility in working with global time zones and people management skills across different cultures.
