Assistant Treasurer - Banking, Debt, & Cash Management

The Assistant Treasurer Banking, Debt and Cash Management position is a Director role and is responsible for running the UL Treasury function, with providing oversight and direction for cash management and UL banking globally, providing treasury representation and expertise on various cross-functional teams, working with Treasury leadership on various treasury initiatives, and ensuring continuing compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manages day-to-day operations of the Corporate Treasury group.
• Serves as a Global Process Owner for Treasury processes. Establishes and maintains Treasury policies and procedures.  Analyses treasury processes and implements improvements. Works with business, Finance and other functions’ leadership on various projects and issue resolution.
• Designs and implements UL bank account structure globally to support business and functions’ needs while minimizing the number of bank accounts and number of bank relationships.
• Oversees the development of efficient and effective cash forecasting, global cash consolidation, dividends, intercompany funding, loans and capitalization and related documentation.
• Serves as global Treasury and Banking Subject Matter Expert on various company-wide implementations. Reviews and decides on requests that are variations from Treasury related business processes, integrations or configurations. Provides final sign off on global designs developed by respective projects.
• Works with business and other functions on establishment of new entities and businesses worldwide. Designs and implements banking and financing aspects of these implementations.
• Develops and reviews cash, investment, debt and banking schedules, footnotes, and audit requests.
• Oversees the review and analysis of foreign currency and other hedging exposures and implementation of any CFO approved hedging measures.
• Ensures compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements.
• Works with local Finance groups, Corporate Accounting, Tax and Legal on resolution of intercompany items including financing and capitalization requirements.
• Oversees Treasury’s participation in the M&A activities, including due diligence, integration planning, and execution of Treasury related activities.
• Assists the Treasurer with Debt Issuance and Debt Compliance.
• Oversees Letters of Credit issuance and issue resolution.
• Keeps current with Treasury practices, banking and treasury technologies and their usage. Keeps current with relevant regulation affecting banking industry.
• Assists Treasurer in maintaining banking relationships.
• Assists Treasurer in the oversight of corporate and retirement investments.
• Develops, updates, and communicates Treasury policies.
• Performs staff-related administrative functions, such as hiring, goal setting, performance reviews.
• Performs other duties as directed.

• University Degree in Accounting.
• 8 years + Treasury experience in a multinational business environment.
• 3 years + managerial experience.
• Experience working with major and smaller banks globally and familiarity with global banking practices.
• Experience working in a global business environment with a sound understanding of global process and transactional flows.
• Excellent communication skills with experience working across multiple functions and regions; able to deliver messages effectively verbally and in writing.
• Strong analytic, organizational and project management skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Proactive problem-solving skills including ability to foresee issues and define solutions while working in cross-functional projects.
• Ability to resolve escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
• Knowledge and understanding of Accounting theory and practice.
• Ability to read and understand financial statements.
• Understanding of AP and AR functions, and implications of Treasury decisions on these areas and vice versa. 
• MBA, CPA or Treasury certifications a plus.
• Highly motivated, independent professional who possesses excellent communication and process improvement skills.
• Ability to collaborate at all levels of the enterprise and across businesses and functional areas to achieve goals, establish consensus, and optimize decisions and financial performance.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates strong business judgment and analytical and technology skills in problem solving, risk analysis and decision making.
