What you’ll learn & achieve:

UL is seeking an experienced communications senior specialist to join our global Communications team.

 

The senior specialist will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with various colleagues across the Communications team and key leaders from business units and corporate functions.

The senior specialist will help our team execute strategic communication programs that enhance the company’s reputation with all stakeholders and help drive business objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Builds strong relationships with peers, managers, leaders, and other key stakeholders to understand their business challenges and objectives
  • Work cross-functionally with other team members to align on communication goals, channel strategy, and messaging
  • Draft and edit communications for multiple audiences, including emails, web content, newsletters, messaging/talking points, PowerPoint presentations, and more
  • Collaborate with Communications business partners to Interface with, and provide communications support to, various groups, including Corporate Functions, Testing, Inspection and Certification, Enterprise and Advisory, Science and Operations, Commercial Operations, Transformation and Innovation, and global organization-wide initiatives
  • Supports internal communications for organizational initiatives and activities such as laboratory openings, employee updates, corporate events, webcasts/broadcasts, and internal UL meetings/events with the broader corporate communications team as appropriate
  • Develops content for communications channels, including but not limited to SharePoint, social media, newsletters, leadership updates, and more
  • Work alongside agency partners and internal Creative team members to ensure brand consistency across all content; develop complementary visuals and videos for internal and external use
  • Measure reach/effectiveness of communications; contribute to ongoing reporting
  • Lend support to crisis communications, M&A, and other global efforts as needed
  • Support other related communications projects as appropriate

What makes you a great fit:

  • BS/BA degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field, plus generally 5+ years of related experience
  • Experience in a B2B professional services environment is preferred
  • Experience working in a global communications role for a complex matrix organization
  • Creative, strategic thinker and storyteller with exceptional writing and editing skills who can effectively communicate what we need stakeholders to know, feel, and do.
  • Must have experience translating complex ideas into simple, authentic, and compelling communications.
  • Change management communications experience a plus
  • Excellent presentation skills and executive presence

  • Knowledge of varied communication delivery vehicles to reach both internal and external (prospective employees) stakeholders, including enterprise communications tools, social tools and platforms, and Sharepoint
  • Values innovation and flexibility, is proactive, motivated, and a self-starter
  • Proven ability to lead and engage across functions and geographies
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, delivering high quality and exceptional customer service
  • Positive, driven, and energetic team player; able to roll up their sleeves and deliver results
