Emergo by UL Human Factors R&D is seeking an experienced Jr. Project Manager to join our fast-paced organization. In this role, you will serve as a project manager for research-focused projects for our client(s). We are looking for someone who is proficient in project management processes, tools, and techniques, to apply those skills to ensure projects run smoothly from initiation to close. You will serve as the point of contact for customer(s), be responsible for completion of project deliverables, while working hand-in-hand with project stakeholders and our team of consultants.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

In this role, you will encounter uncertainty and ambiguity and must think creatively to resolve issues, some of which are our clients’ most critical questions and concerns. You will work with a team of over 50 Human Factors consultants and other Project Managers to deliver best-in-class services for our customers.



  • Define and execute project plans for small to medium sized projects, both client-facing and internal
  • Provide leadership and support to multiple project teams in parallel
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget to customers
  • Monitor project costs, schedules and performance against established milestones; flag any risks immediately and understand implications
  • Report on project statuses to stakeholders and management on a regular basis
  • Communicate with internal and external project stakeholders (clients, HFR&D operations team, UL Finance and Accounting, etc.)
  • Act to address client concerns and resolve issues for their project(s)
  • Administration of Salesforce-based project management system (PSA) to ensure accurate project set-up, progress tracking and timely and accurate billing of completed work items
  • Performs other duties as directed

What makes you a great fit:

  • 2+ years of project management experience in a consulting or advisory organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, operations, project management or similarly related field required; Advanced degree is preferred
  • Experience managing several medium sized projects (2-6 months) in parallel

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to anticipate risks and devise solutions in the moment
  • Understanding of project management principles and processes
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
