What you’ll learn & achieve:

The Software QA Engineer will be responsible for managing our testing environments, developing and enhancing our test libraries, and maintaining documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of software. A balance of strong technical testing experience along with excellent communication and team interaction skills will be key to the success of this role.

The candidate will work closely with other QA team members as well as development leads, developers, technical writers, and Product Owners on the Scrum teams within an Agile software development environment to ensure we consistently release quality products to our customers. This position requires a highly motivated individual comfortable with a fast-paced dynamic environment. The candidate must be an enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, innovative, insightful and proficient in Development and QA methodologies, best practices and tools. We are looking for a candidate who can not only formulate and implement a testing strategy but also advocate and drive highly effective QA practices. We are looking for a true team player who has a great attitude, leads by example, and is not afraid to seek out help within their team and across other teams when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop effective, reusable and maintainable automated test scripts to achieve maximum code coverage
  • Collaborate with your scrum team to determine the best methods to use to test the acceptance criteria in sprint stories (unit, API, UI, Performance, etc.)
  • Ensure that automation scripts function well across all supported browsers and platforms
  • Design, develop, execute automation scripts and analyze automation test results
  • Review automated tests of peers and provide suggestions to improve the quality and efficiency of the tests
  • Help define, implement and maintain automation strategies that enable the team to perform more thorough regression testing of existing functionality, earlier in the release cycle
  • Participate and provide input in requirement and technical design review meetings
  • Monitor issues identified during testing and mitigate/escalate issues as necessary
  • Perform manual testing of test cases as and when needed
  • Stay up to date on general knowledge of software architecture; understanding component and application breakdown and interaction

What makes you a great fit:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field 

Required Skills

  • 5+ years’ experience using various testing tools and methods used in web based applications
  • Experience in the writing, executing, and maintenance of automated test scripts
  • Proven experience in applying automated testing tools in a number of successful software projects
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of industry standard quality assurance methodologies, standards, and best practices
  • Desire and ability to learn new technologies and techniques as they emerge
  • Proactive work ethic with the ability to deliver results and meet challenging deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational, time management and project management skills
  • Knowledge of: UI, Middle Tier and Database development/QA
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills with a pro-active approach
  • Capable of writing test utilities
  • Thorough understanding of the development lifecycle and exposure to various SDLCs, especially Agile
  • Strong understanding of various hardware, operating systems and database platforms
  • Experience with SQL and database testing
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, presentations)

"Nice to have" skills/experience:

  • Experience within healthcare related industry
  • Experience working within distributed teams
  • Experience testing on various mobile devices
  • Experience with performance testing tools and strategies
