We are currently seeking a Senior Regulatory Specialist with expertise in Environment, Health, Safety, and Transportation (EHS&T) regulations. The position requires extensive and profound global Dangerous Goods Transportation knowledge with a focus on providing expertise and advisory services in international air (ICAO/IATA), sea (IMDG), and China/Asia-Pacific Dangerous Goods Transportation regulations including classification, packaging, marking, labelling, and documentation for all product types for all modes of transport. In this role you will be responsible for fulfilling client advisory services projects, responding to and resolving client inquiries, developing and delivering training materials, tracking regulatory changes, and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

  • Under minimum supervision, the Senior Regulatory Specialist provides advisory services to clients which may involve local, regional, national or international knowledge of industrial or consumer sectors. The Senior Regulatory Specialist identifies, collects, and interprets science-based reports, data and regulations in order to prepare documents for clients and government agencies, and develops Environment, Health, Safety, and Transportation (EHS&T) information for the control and use of chemicals and electrical/electronics products in the market place. The Senior Regulatory Specialist utilizes relevant software and can contribute to troubleshooting and enhancement of these software products. May mentor and train Regulatory Specialists. Interfaces with management to provide expert consultation on regulatory requirements.
  • Uses regulatory knowledge to provide expert advisory services to clients and management for efficient EHS&T services.
  • Uses relevant software to meet client EHS&T needs.
  • Monitors applicable regulations relevant to specific job duties while maintaining a broad understanding of current regulatory landscape so that appropriate actions can be identified.
  • Maintains credentials and certifications where applicable.
  • Collaborates with and may lead multi-functional teams to improve and assist with processes and/or testing of software; provides feedback to improve software products where applicable.
  • Provides expert regulatory knowledge to support the Marketing and Sales teams as necessary.
  • Presents expert regulatory knowledge via Webinars and conferences to audiences to showcase UL’s expertise.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

What makes you a great fit:

  • University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree) in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Toxicology, Medical, or a related discipline plus 5-10 years of experience in Dangerous Goods Transportation, Regulatory, Product Stewardship or EHS with an emphasis on and expertise in international air (ICAO/IATA), sea (IMDG), and China Dangerous Goods Transportation regulations.
  • Profound expertise of Dangerous Goods Transportation experience in all modes for all product types (e.g. TI, DGR, IMDG Code, JT/T 617, etc.)
  • Expertise in GHS (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals) and related standards
  • Knowledge in Asia Pacific chemical and chemical containing product regulatory compliance and registrations (e.g. Hazardous Chemical Registration)
  • Current active Dangerous Goods Transportation Certification preferred
  • Experience working in database platforms and tools
