    This position will be responsible for the copy editing of all materials developed by UL’s Content Solutions team and for assuring adherence to all styles, formats and templates. In addition, this position will share responsibilities for reviewing and developing the visual presentation of our web-based learning products. This position will focus on reviewing UL’s e-learning courses for standardization, clarity, readability, completeness and functionality and will play a key role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of those courses.

    Significant duties and responsibilities:

    • Ensure the accuracy and quality of all written and spoken words developed by UL’s Content Solutions team.
    • Review and test all elements of e-learning courseware, including images and animations.
    • Work closely with instructional designers, subject matter experts, project managers and multimedia developers to verify course content. Provide guidance and feedback to improve content creation.
    • Interact with course development teams in the development of custom training programs as well as courses for our library.
    • Help develop and adhere to the web-based creative vision/standards.
    • Closely follow team processes and policies.
    • Performs other duties as directed.


    The successful candidate must have many of the following skills/traits:

    • Excellent command of English language and grammar.
    • Extraordinary attention to detail while working within clearly defined time constraints.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Google Docs.
    • Experience working with training solutions, storyboards and style guides.
    • High degree of initiative and self-motivation; ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal direction, prioritize multiple tasks and work within tight deadlines.
    • Flexibility and a passion for developing high-quality products.
    • Familiar with current and emerging e-learning / web-based learning technologies.
    • Experience with foreign languages and cultures. Background in working with translated products a plus.
    • Telecommuting candidates will be considered.
    • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years professional experience as copy editor for web-based or multimedia content
    • BS/BA degree. Bachelor's Degree in English, journalism or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
    • Graphic/multimedia design experience preferred.
    • Prior experience in the development of web-based content; e-learning industry experience preferred.
    • Excellent team/collaboration skills.
    • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
