    Under general supervision, supports the design of IT technology within network, communication, and hardware systems both On Premise and in Microsoft Azure Cloud based systems. Performs analysis and translation of business, information, and technical requirements to achieve IT solutions that meet business needs. Assists in the development of design specifications and deliverables that support system enhancements.

    • Hands-on participation during issue resolution.
    • Create and establish working partnerships with various technology and business groups across UL.
    • Manage communication to broader team members about trending issues and outages.
    • Develop client relationships through communication and engagement on projects.
    • Design, development, and implementation of all policies and procedures related to the support of business applications.
    • Assist with documenting, troubleshooting, and resolving system issues reported by UL end users and customers.
    • Escalation of issues, where appropriate, to Level 3 support teams for resolution of critical incidents.
    • Identifying patterns of issues and then working with the internal service management and technical teams for ways to proactively correct them.
    • Provide limited end-user application training.
    • Minimize technical exposure and risk on projects.
    • Assist and lead deployments of business applications, including coordinating with other teams.
    • Aid in server and infrastructure management.
    • Configure applications.
    • Help setup and maintain system monitoring, and be responsive to alerts.
    • Some weekend work during deployments (10-20%).
    • Scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
    • Work with Cloud Service Providers (Azure, AWS)

    Work closely with:

    • Infrastructure leads to understand, validate, and act on infrastructure impacts on support operations.
    • Development leads to understand upcoming changes that may impact support operations.
    • Project Management to understand deployments from support perspective and minimize risk.
    • User experience team members to understand designed user flow of current and future systems.


    • BA/BS degree or 3 - 5 years of experience or equivalent.
    • Strong process analysis and critical thinking skills
    • Strong oral and written presentation skills.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of industry trends and standards.
    • Experience with technology (SQL, VMs, networking, and containerization).
    • Exposure to custom .NET systems.
    • Experience & Interest with cloud computing solutions
