    Responsibilities

    We are currently seeking a Laboratory Assistant for our Fire Protection Lab in Northbrook, IL for our 3rd shift team!

     

    If you are seeking an opportunity to work in a hands-on environment, enhance trade skill knowledge, and have a team oriented mindset, this is the opportunity for you! As a Laboratory Assistant you will help with building sets for tests, examining results, and you will work closely with our Engineers and other lab members to ensure efficiency and our common goal; ensuring a safer world! You can also expect the following:

     

    • Assists in building and/or adapting setup and test equipment to new situations, as directed. Assists in performing tests using general laboratory equipment. Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area. Operates a computer to extract/input readily available information and to use available software.
    • Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor and designated staff. Develops knowledge of applicable test requirements, wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints and operational instructions.
    • Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.
    • Receives instructions and reports data to supervisor and personnel in engineering and laboratory operations as needed. Assists in recording observed or calculated data on appropriate UL forms.
    • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
    • Performs other duties as directed.

    Qualifications

     

    • High School or GED equivalence
    • Basic knowledge of hand/power tools
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs. assisted and unassisted
    • Forklift experience is a plus
    • Warehouse experience is preferred
    • Team oriented 
    • 3rd shift availability is a must
