    UL Ventures is passionate about partnering with and funding great teams to develop ambitious solutions together.  We provide venture capital and a dedicated ventures team who facilitate access to global UL expertise and customers.  We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Business Development professional. In this role, you will partner with our portfolio companies to leverage UL expertise and global footprint combined with your domain knowledge and business development skills to develop win-win partnerships for both companies. This will be accomplished by developing an in-depth understanding of the portfolio companies needs and aligning them to UL businesses and customers’ priorities. This is an important role to build UL Ventures into a successful CVC and create value for UL enterprise.


    In this role you will work with our portfolio companies, UL businesses and UL’s customers to identify, develop and execute on new business initiatives that are mutually beneficial. You will collaborate with portfolio companies to understand their product/technology offering, customer value proposition, business model and unit economics and develop successful partnerships with UL businesses. You’ll partner with UL business leaders to understand their business and product strategy to drive new initiatives with portfolio companies.


    Your core responsibilities will include:


    • Develop win-win partnerships between portfolio companies and UL businesses that leads to new business for both companies
    • Organize workshops with portfolio companies and UL strategy and business leaders for knowledge sharing and identifying partnership opportunities
    • Propose, Initiate, Manage and Complete Proof-of-Concept (PoC) projects with portfolio companies and UL businesses to demonstrate merits of the new technology
    • Report regularly on progress of PoC projects, new initiatives, outcomes and accomplishments
    • Create new UL solutions with portfolio companies and UL businesses
    • Understand emerging technologies and market trends to identify potential opportunities for UL businesses
    • Be an innovation thought leader and champion within and outside of UL
    • Market UL Ventures to startup communities


    • MBA from a top-tier program ( desired)
    • 5+ years of experience in business development in high-tech or software industry
    • Proven business partnership skills with referenceable accomplishments and quantifiable results
    • Experience with enterprise software sales, SaaS business models and growth drivers
    • Experience working with early stage startups and entrepreneurs
    • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Systems, Internet of Things, Cybersecurity, Digital Manufacturing etc.
    • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically
    • Ability to drive projects and initiatives to completion
    • Ability to navigate large and complex organizations
    • Strong inter-personal and communication skills
