    As a member of the Due Diligence team, the Senior Project Manager Environmental and Permitting is responsible for managing and executing independent engineering (IE) and technical advisory (TA) services to support the financing, sale, or acquisition of wind and solar plants and portfolios. The position is high profile, and requires a mature and experienced candidate with effective communication, project management, and technical skills.


    • Establish internal standards for review of environmental and permitting issues related to renewable energy projects.
    • Stay current on regional and national policy and regulatory issues related to environmental and permitting.
    • Represent UL at conferences and industry events pertaining to environmental and permitting issues.
    • Maintain contacts with industry experts.
    • Establish relationships with subconsultants and manage the work of subconsultants when necessary.
    • Work with project managers and department managers within the U.S. and internationally to ensure consistent review of environmental and permitting issues.
    • Create and maintain a database of environmental and permitting data.
    • Create and update as needed report templates and bibliographies.
    • Review environmental and permitting documents for a variety of different projects within the U.S. and internationally, as needed.
    • Compile and complete IE and TA environmental and permitting review and ensure a quality of work that meets and exceeds client expectations. Summarize key results and conclusions.
    • Prepare proposals detailing a scope of work, team, budget and schedule for completion to satisfy client expectations.
    • Manage and schedule internal resources as well as sub consultants. Ensure project deliverables stay on scope, schedule, and budget.
    • Work effectively with colleagues to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products while working collaboratively with other teams and business units as needed.
    • Research publicly available data regarding permitting and environmental issues related to wind and solar projects.
    • Draft report sections relating to environmental and permitting review of projects or portfolios of projects.
    • Conduct site visits as needed to verify and review on-site Project conditions.
    • Attend regular departmental and team meetings; participate as appropriate in project management meetings.
    • Responsible for meeting minutes and business unit administration including travel arrangements and scheduling.
    • Perform all other duties as they may be assigned.


    • At least 5 years of experience as an environmental and permitting manager or specialist in wind and/or solar energy due diligence, project development.
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, e.g., Biology or Environmental Science
    • Strong written and communication skills required.
    • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
    • Writing samples will be requested of qualified applicants.
    • Current driver's license required and capability to complete necessary travel, including to foreign countries.
    • Ability to travel up to 25%.
